Tilganga Eye Centre in Nepal made an historic first visit to the Democratic Republic of Korea (North Korea) earlier this year to conduct two microsurgical cataract workshops. This was the first time that opthalmologists had visited North Korea.

Addressing the health emergency in Australia's Indigenous communities
In Australia, Indigenous communities have infant mortality rates around three times as high as their fellow Australians. Indigenous babies are more than twice as likely to be born premature or underweight as non Indigenous babies.

Gabi Hollows visits South Africa
Gabi Hollows recently visited The Foundation’s Eastern Cape Blindness Prevention Program to review the program and meet local staff and dignitaries.

International staff meet in Australia to determine future directions
The Foundation’s country managers, medical advisers and key Australian staff will come together for an International Management Group (IMG) meeting in the Northern Territory of Australia in September. In the lead up, regional management meetings have been held in Africa and Asia.

The Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Brian Doolan was invited to participate in the National Reconciliation Planning Workshop in Canberra, Australia, alongside leading members of the government, the NGO and business sectors and the media.
